Discover the 2019 winners of the International Cocoa Awards!

The International Cocoa Awards are celebrating their 10th birthday this year!

This unique show, created and run by Bioversity International and Salon du Chocolat brings together producers from around the world to honour the importance of their work and promote high quality cocoa which preserves the true flavour of chocolate. This is the result of a deep understanding of genetic diversity, local knowledge and expertise.

Every 2 years, the International Cocoa Awards showcases the world’s greatest cocoa according to its region of origin, during Salon du Chocolat in Paris with some 50 cocoa-producing countries taking part. This is a great opportunity for them to showcase their work to chocolatiers and the press.

During the International Cocoa Awards Ceremony organised on October 30th, 20 ICA Winners were rewarded for the quality of their cocoa beans and received the world’s only label of excellence for cocoa.

Highlights of the International Cocoa Awards programme

    • 55 participating cocoa-producing countries
    • 225 samples received
    • 50 cocoa beans nominated and processed into chocolat
    • 35 chocolatiers and experts in chocolate sensory evaluation 
    • 225 samples received 
    • 7 Technical Committee member 
    • 20 samples received an International Cocoa Award

This is the only event in the world celebrating the work of producers and the full richness of cocoa. It also contributes to greater mutual understanding and helps forge a stronger partnership between cocoa producers and chocolate makers.

At a ceremony on 30 October, the ICA finalists will be praised for the quality of their beans and will receive, in front of hundreds of industry professionals, ambassadors and some of the world’s greatest chocolatiers, the world’s only label of excellence for cocoa
